Booking with a business directly starts with a reasonable question: who am I booking with, and what should I expect?
Marina began hosting in 2016 after enjoying a different way of staying in a city during her own travels. Staying in someone’s home helped inspire the approach behind LDN stays: practical private rooms within shared accommodation, for travellers who want to get out and explore.
## An honest description matters more than a grand promise
Our bedrooms are private, and bathroom arrangements vary by listing. Some rooms have shared bathrooms; the Chic room in Shoreditch is listed with a private bathroom. Kitchens may be shared. We explain that arrangement because it is important to your decision. If a private bathroom is important to you, choose a listing that explicitly includes one and clarify its arrangement before reserving.
The same applies to stairs and noise. Access involves stairs, and some properties are on main roads. Street sounds and sounds from other guests can occur. We ask guests to respect quiet hours and shared spaces, but we do not promise a silent retreat.
Being open about these details helps you choose accommodation that fits your needs.
## What we do to support a shared stay
Common areas are cleaned daily. Private rooms receive one cleaning per stay rather than daily housekeeping. Guests also have a part to play by leaving kitchens and bathrooms tidy after use.
That routine matters more than a claim that every shared space will always be spotless. These are working flats used by fellow travellers, and respectful use helps everyone.
## Communication before you arrive
After booking, we send supporting messages explaining the accommodation in clear bullet points. We reiterate the private room and shared facilities, explain the cleaning routine and provide self-check-in guidance.
Read those messages before setting off. If something does not make sense, clarify it through the contact details provided rather than leaving the question until arrival.
Marina reports that guests appreciate the communication and instructions.
## Local ideas from people who have stayed
Our kitchen recommendation boards bring together suggestions from us and previous guests. They offer another starting point for exploring the area, alongside your own plans.
Guests have also told Marina that they value transport connections and uncluttered rooms. Check the individual property’s location against the places you want to visit; different itineraries call for different bases.
## Make your own assessment
You do not have to choose a room on trust alone. Visit www.ldnstays.co.uk, read the room details and review the booking information. Check the dates, total price and terms shown for your stay.
Booking Direct with LDN stays means starting with the business’s own information. Our aim is to give you a clear picture of the accommodation so you can decide whether it belongs in your London plans.
